Weathering the stormsServiceMaster responds - even as own facility floods

As heavy rains fell and ServiceMaster crews were dispatched to affected homes and businesses in the early morning hours of August 4, owner Jerry Winkley watched via security cameras as rising floodwaters moved into his Hutchinson facility and rendered it inaccessible.

Despite a flooded building, ServiceMaster of Hutchinson and ServiceMaster Cleaning & Restoration by Clean in a Wink crews began working immediately to assist home and business owners across South Central Kansas in drying damaged properties.

“Our crews are trained to respond quickly and efficiently,” Winkley said. “What’s exceptional is that they took action even as our own facility was under water.”

With hundreds of fans, dehumidifiers, trailer-mounted commercial drying desiccants and what seemed like miles of desiccant drying tubes in place, crews restored everything from flooded basements to health care facilities to a senior living community.

Though ServiceMaster Cleaning & Restoration by Clean in a Wink crews were able to serve in many affected properties, the intensity of the storms prompted Winkley to call in five other ServiceMaster businesses from across the region — businesses his company has supported in similar events that affected their areas, including Oklahoma City.
